Rome SDS Blog: Empire Board shop in Montreal held a party to celebrate the shop’s 11th anniversary and premiere the new Videograss film Bon Voyage over the weekend that was truly one for the record books. Empire had everything up there; packed to capacity three level club, tons of hot girls, more pro snowboarders than you could count including Mikey Leblanc, LNP, Louif Paradis, and Alex Cantin who all have great parts in the film, and oh yeah, they had fu#%ing Naughty By Nature play the party.
Mikey chased LNP down in our Team Shootout edit, apparently he was just trying to tell him they were going to be sharing a part...
Forester, Will, LNP, and LNP's friend Jay negotiate the streets of Montreal
Rome designer Mike Forester and I sped north Friday night and met up with Will Lavigne, LNP, and a few of their friends at a small bar on MTL’s infamous St. Catherine’s street. After weaving our way through a massive line of excited shred party-goers we finally got into the venue which was packed to capacity on all three floors. The dudes from Empire really know how to throw a party; our hats are off to these guys for sure. We ran into Mikey Leblanc who was fresh off a flight from SLC’s premier the night before, Louif Paradis and Alex Cantin, Greg Desjardins, Yan Dofin, Oli Croteau, David Melancon, Guillaume Morisette, and just about everyone else from the Quebec shred scene.
Alex, Louif, LNP, and Mikey fired up the crowd for Videograss
The Videograss movie is amazing once again. I don’t want to give to much away because you really have to see the ender for yourself, but ole Larry’s part is awesome even with a broken back. As I said earlier Louif and Alex’s parts are great, Darrel, and Jed’s are super sick, and for me I was stoked to see Doran Laybourne in there, just a couple years ago he almost died when some kook hit him at full speed with his snowmobile, people weren’t sure if he’d ever walk again let alone shred, so to see him shredding in Bon Voyage was epic to say the least. Go buy the movie.
I've got to be honest, when I woke up Friday the last thing I thought I'd be seeing at the Videograss premiere was Naughty By Nature
After the film Naughty By Nature played the packed club, if you don’t know who Naughty By Nature is (and most of the kids there didn’t, infact LNP couldn’t name one song they sing when I asked him) look 'em up, they killed the place. They played all of their hits, and then covered pretty much every big rap song from the '90s. The place was going crazy and at the end they had the entire stage packed with people popping bottles and spraying shit everywhere, it was great. Big thanks to Empire for hosting such an awesome party and getting everyone thinking of snow.
