On the afternoon of May 25th Trouble Andrew posted a bulletin on Myspace saying, " I will not be able to make any more dates on the Flobots tour because a cab ran into me on the 22nd in NYC and messed up my knee. I will be fine but I need some time off to recover before I hit the road again."
Andrews likely supposed he'd left knee injuries far behind when he stepped back from snowboarding to focus on his music career. After all, it was during his recovery from a knee injury in the 2004/05 season that he recorded the first half of his debut album "Trouble Andrew." Since then he's spent the past four years tranistioning into his music persona, touring and working on a follow up album entitled Dreams Of A Troubled Man. While recording his new album the Trouble Gang Mixtape emerged organically, almost by accident.
"The mixtape came together on the side because so many friends and artists were hanging out and recording shit through the process that we didn't even realize I was making a mixtape until we had it finished," says Andrews. "It was cool to do a project that didn't really have to be consistent or have a story. That's why I love mixtapes."
The Trouble Gang Mixtape features colab tracks with Lil Jon, Spankrock, Amanda Blank, Sanitgold, Diplo, Hollywood Holt and Ninjasonik.
Everyone's favourite shred turned songster hasn't completely abandoned his snowboard roots however. The 29 track album is supported Nixon, Airhole, Yes and Analog who helped Andrews offset the cost of putting it online for free as well as duplicate physical copies.
