Stepchild has redesigned the Latchkey for 2012 with impressive results. Right off the bat we’ll tell you that this one of the best boards for those that spend their time in the park and don’t’ even consider anything else. It’s a fun ride and locks onto any man-made feature like a magnet. This is helped out with a snag free base (no die-cuts here) and a tip-to-tail poplar core.
The Latchkey is designed with a reverse camber that is meant to resemble the bottom of a rocking chair, meaning it’s continuous and forgiving. This will definitely take some getting used to but park rats will adapt quickly. Stepchild as produced one of SBC’s favourite boards of the season and it’s an easy choice for freestyle machines.
WHAT THE SBC TESTERS ARE SAYING:
Fun to ride · Solid · Good Pop · Jib Machine ·
“A pretty fun board with sweet graphics. Playful in the park and fun all-around.”
“This board is for the park rat: 30-foot jumps, boxes, rails, street rails. It’s fun and easy to ride but not for big mountains. The SoCal East Coast spring break special. Awesome for T-bar parks and hot laps.”
Camber has a small learning curve ·
“A little weird with it’s camber, but fun all around.”
