The Arc'teryx Deep Winter Photo Challenge presented by GoreTex slideshow was held at the Fairmont Whistler Hotel in front of a sold out crowd of over 1200 spectators this past Saturday night. Photographers Chris Christie, Reuben Krabbe, Nic Allegre, Mike Helfrich, Andrew Strain, and Russel Dalby spent 3 days from the previous week on Whistler Blackcomb with their respective crews of skiers and snowboarders capturing images for their final edits. Unlike previous years, Mother Nature didn't really hold up her end of the bargain with sunny skies and inverted temperatures throughout the week, every photographer came up with some amazing images. In the end, it was Pemberton-based Russell Dalby taking the win followed by Reuben Krabbe and Andrew Strain respectively. Mike Helfrich also walked away with $500 for the best single image from the entire night. Check out the top three slideshows below.
And be sure to submit your vote HERE for your favorite Deep Winter photo and be entered to win a Grand Prize that includes: a Gore Tex jacket and pants, Atomic Skis and Bindings and a GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition camera. The photographer who gathers the most votes for his photo from fans will be off to shred for a day with Whistler Heli Skiing.
Russell Dalby: 1st Place
Rueben Krabbe: 2nd place
Andrew Strain: 3rd place
