Checking out the November 2011 Event Calendar on the Sun Peaks website it appears in bright red: “Opening Day for Winter Lift Operations.” Sun Peaks Resort is set to open this Saturday, November 19th. This year marks the 50th Anniversary of Tod Mountain, officially known as Sun Peaks since 1992. To celebrate and anniversary of this magnitude it seems only appropriate to make sure you are out on the mountain for opening day.
The forecast for Saturday looks to be a mix of sun and clouds with some isolated furriers throughout the day. The high will be around -12C and the low at or around -17C. However, we have faith that for a celebration this historic that the sun will be out; it’s a rarity that it isn't at Sun Peaks.
To mark the big 50 Sun Peaks will be having events throughout the winter to celebrate the milestone. For a full list of events check the special 50th Anniversary tab on their website. I leave you to your waxing, sharpening, and any other last minute details you need to accomplish in order to get ready for Saturday. Let the season begin.
